This siding project in Nahant, MA was finished in January 2022. Dark charcoal-gray siding on this waterfront home is set against a bright white wraparound porch, turned columns and an attached pergola, with white casings and black shutters upstairs.

The first two photos work along the front of a waterfront home, where the charcoal walls sit behind a deep white porch on square columns, its white balusters running the length and an attached pergola extending out over the far end. Below the porch deck, vertical dark skirt boards close off the crawl space. Upstairs, a hipped dormer and a brick chimney break the roof. The third photo turns to the water side, where a red door opens onto a small paved area, a band of awning windows lines the lower wall, and open ocean sits just past the property line.

On an exposed coastal site every joint matters, and the detailing shows it: siding is cut tight to the porch roof and column bases, the skirt below the deck is run vertically to shed water, and window casings are kept proud of the wall so the dark field reads clean. The porch, its rails and the attached pergola were finished in white, and the siding was worked around the hipped dormer and chimney rather than past them.

Details visible in the photos include white pergola over the porch, wraparound covered porch, gambrel dormers. Materials on the elevation: fiber cement lap siding, shingle-style siding, white PVC trim, white pergola and porch columns.

Materials on this job: James Hardie. The finish shown is Iron Gray (closest manufacturer match). Pricing was agreed in writing before the crew started, and the number at the end matched it. The work carries a written workmanship warranty alongside the manufacturer's material warranty.
