We completed this siding job in Newton, MA in December 2022. Deep navy blue lap siding covers the gable-front home on every elevation, sharply outlined by white corner boards, cornice returns and casings around the newly installed double-hung windows.
The in-progress frame tells the story here: the old clapboard has been stripped back to bare board sheathing across the whole side wall, with an extension ladder leaning on the gable and a pile of torn-off boards at the base. A slim brick chimney sits at the ridge and the roof edge carries a dark drip edge. The finished shots show the same two-story gable-front box squared away, with a basement hopper window trimmed in white and a short concrete stoop at the side entry. Gutters and a white downspout now run the full corner.
This was a full tear-off rather than an overlay - the demo photo shows every course removed down to the original horizontal plank sheathing, with nail lines and patched areas visible. Openings were reset and re-cased, the water table and foundation edge trimmed out, and new gutter and downspout hung on the corner. Ladders and staging planks were run off the ground on the tight side yard.
