This siding project in Natick, MA was finished in January 2022. The cape is sided in barn red lap boards with white window casings, corner boards and cornice trim, carried across the dormer, the rear ell and the enclosed sunroom.
The two earlier frames record the cottage as it stood: bright red walls, a steep gabled roof with a small shed dormer holding a window unit, a brick chimney at the ridge, and a low glassed sunroom wrapping the front corner over a stone patio. Window boxes, a metal flue and old aluminum gutters hang off the red wall. The last photo, taken in bare-tree season, shows the same gable end and sunroom finished in gray siding with white casings, corner boards and cornice trim, new barn-style wall lights spaced along the side wall, and a white downspout run to a splash block.
The red siding was removed and replaced across the main gable, the dormer face and the low ell behind the sunroom. Openings were re-cased in white and the rake and cornice trim rebuilt, including the arched gable-end window head. Gutters and downspouts were replaced, and exterior light boxes were reset over the finished wall.
