A siding project our team completed in Wayland, MA - July 2024. White-finished cedar shingles run in even courses across the gambrel elevation, with custom white casings around the divided-light windows and a neatly woven shingle corner detail.
The rear of this gambrel steps out over a gravel court, with a shingled overhang carrying a tall triple-casement window that projects above a service door. Above it a fan-light gable window sits centered in the upper wall, flanked by smaller sash. White shingles run in even courses across the main wall, over the curved shingled hood and down onto the low projections, meeting a stone-faced foundation. A third frame moves in close on an outside corner where the courses are woven rather than stopped at a corner board, with an ogee cap trim closing the base.
Shingles were hung in even courses over the full rear elevation, including the curved hood and the projecting bay under it. Every opening was re-cased in white, and the corner was woven course by course so no vertical trim board interrupts the field. Base trim closes the bottom course above the stone foundation, and the gas meter and service piping were reset against the finished wall.

Products used: Andersen, Red Cedar. The finish shown is white. Permits, inspections and dumpster logistics were handled by us. Progress photos went to the homeowner as the job moved along.
