Watertown, MA - siding completed May 2024. In-progress photos of an attached townhouse row show the facades stripped to housewrap and bare boards, with the first section already finished in dark gray lap siding and white trim.
One photo catches the row mid-tear-off: the old siding is gone, exposing bare board sheathing under freshly stapled housewrap, with cantilevered balconies and their railings still in place at each unit. A second frame comes in close on a lower wall, where housewrap runs down to the brick foundation and the gas meters, spigots and conduit have been pulled clear of the wall. The last photo shows the far end of the building finished in gray lap siding with white casings, three stories tall, with wood stairs and landings at each entry.
The crew stripped the old cladding to sheathing and re-wrapped the walls before hanging new siding. Balconies, entry landings, meters and service lines all had to be worked around rather than removed. Openings were re-cased and starter and corner trim run at each unit, and the work moved unit by unit along the row with ladders rather than full staging.
