This siding project in Newton, MA was finished in November 2022. Crisp light-gray lap siding wraps this two-story home, with bright white corner boards, window casings and soffits framing a projecting box bay window and the second-floor overhang.

The last photo in the set shows where this one started: a tired cedar-shingle wall, curling courses and a heavy wood bracket hood sagging over the old bay. The finished side elevation reads very differently, with clean horizontal courses running up past the second-floor overhang to a vented soffit and a small rear landing with wood steps tucked against an arborvitae hedge. Out front, the covered porch on square columns and the shingle-textured band above it now match, and a close view of the bay shows fluted casings, a wrapped soffit and dark window frames sitting tight to the shingle field.

The before shot shows shingles removed right down to the bay's framing, so this was a strip-and-replace rather than a layover. Trim was rebuilt rather than reused: the old bracketed window hood is gone, replaced by a wrapped overhang, and the bay carries new fluted corner casings, a continuous head trim and a finished skirt below the sill. Two siding textures were combined, lap on the lower walls and shingle-profile panels on the upper story and bay.
