Medfield, MA - siding completed January 2022. Both photos show a long antique colonial reclad in bright white clapboard with narrow exposure and white casings, keeping the historic look while the gable end meets a stone-edged rear patio.
These are close-range photos of the finished work rather than wide house shots. Two of them look straight at an outside corner where light gray fiber cement lap meets a wide flat corner board, with the woodgrain texture and consistent shadow line clearly visible. The third frames the front entry: a white paneled door with a fan-light top, set under a molded pediment cap with a heavy backband and a deep sill trim, flanked by arborvitae. Bluestone paving and granite curbing sit right against the bottom course.
The job included new lap siding with matching trim: wide corner boards, a starter course held above the granite edging, and a built-up casing and crown cap around the entry door. Casing depth was set so the siding butts cleanly into the trim rather than being caulked over it. The entry threshold and door frame were re-trimmed as part of the same package.
Details visible in the photos include antique center-chimney colonial, two brick chimneys, fan-light entry door. Materials on the elevation: white fiber cement lap siding, white PVC trim, gray asphalt shingle roof, white six-over-six windows.
