We completed this siding job in Marshfield, MA in December 2021. The coastal cape is finished in medium gray shingle siding with white trim, a new gray architectural shingle roof over the dormers, a banded sunroom and a white-railed rooftop deck.
Shot from the yard, the house reads as a plain gable-end block with a louvered attic vent, stepping back to a gambrel section whose upper wall carries three dormer windows. A white-railed deck sits at grade off the rear wall, and an exterior stair climbs the far end to a railed rooftop deck with a boxed skirt beneath it. Another view shows the attached garage bay and a full-width glassed sunroom on a lattice-skirted base, with a solar array covering the sunroom roof slope and a dumpster parked on the drive. Gray shingle siding is consistent across every volume.
Every elevation was re-clad in shingle siding, including the gable end, gambrel upper wall, dormers, garage bay and the sunroom base. White trim was installed at the corners, rakes, water table and around each window. Decking work included a rail-enclosed grade-level deck, an exterior stair to the roof deck and a vinyl privacy fence enclosing the yard.
Details visible in the photos include rooftop deck with railing, sunroom window band, gabled dormers. Materials on the elevation: fiber cement shingle siding, white PVC trim, architectural asphalt shingle roof, white lattice skirting.
Products used: James Hardie, Marvin, GAF. The finish shown is Gray Slate (closest manufacturer match). Permits, inspections and dumpster logistics were handled by us. Progress photos went to the homeowner as the job moved along.
