A deck building project our team completed in Worcester, MA - January 2022. One image is the 3D design showing an elevated deck with switchback stairs, and the other shows the finished build in gray composite boards with white railings, landings and post caps over concrete footings.
The house is a tall three-story colonial in olive-green vinyl with a walk-out lower level and two ground-floor doors under the new structure. Photos taken from the yard show the second-story deck cantilevered off the rear wall, carried on pressure-treated posts set on metal standoff bases over concrete piers, with the joist bay left open underneath. A long straight stair run drops from the deck to an intermediate landing beside the basement door, then turns to grade. One frame is the before condition: the original stained wood deck, spindly posts and weathered handrails that the new build replaced.
The old wood deck, stairs and railings came off down to the posts and a new elevated frame went in on treated 6x6 columns with galvanized post bases and piers. Crews poured or reset footings, sheeted the area beneath in crushed stone, framed a lower landing over the utility area, and finished with white railing, closed risers and a wrapped fascia band.

Products used: Trex. The finish shown is weathered gray. Progress photos went to the homeowner as the job moved along. Permits, inspections and dumpster logistics were handled by us.
