We completed this deck building job in Sudbury, MA in May 2026. Interior views of a finished sauna show clear cedar lining the walls and ceiling, two tiers of bench seating with slatted backrests, a cylindrical heater, and a glass door to the deck.
One photo backs up to show the building itself, mid-construction in snow: a flat-roofed structure on pressure-treated piers, half clad in dark wood-look panels and half still in printed weather barrier, with a covered porch bay open at the near end and tools stacked on the deck boards. The interior shots show why the shell matters here, with a large fixed picture window facing the snowy yard and a full-glass door out to the deck.
The building was framed on posts and piers above grade, wrapped in a taped weather barrier, and clad with wood-look panels over a rainscreen, with dark trim returning into each opening. A composite deck was laid inside the covered bay and out the door side. The window and door openings were flashed before cladding, and the porch roof carries on a heavy post at the outside corner.

Specified here: James Hardie, Trex. The site was cleared at the end of each working day rather than only at the end of the job. The same crew that started the project finished it.
