We completed this siding job in Maynard, MA in January 2022. A before-and-after pairing shows the dated gray ranch reclad in bright white siding with a board-and-batten front gable and black-framed windows, and a second photo shows the matching white rear elevation.
This is a long single-story ranch with an attached garage at one end and a dark shingled roof running the full length. The front gable projects toward the street with a covered entry recess and a brick stoop, while a picture window group faces the lawn. The gable end photo shows the white lap wrapping around a brick chimney that climbs the wall, and the rear view opens onto a deep lawn behind the fence. A gable vent sits high in the peak; the rear ell steps down to a sunroom with its own low roof.
Every elevation was reclad in white siding, with board-and-batten used only on the front gable field and horizontal lap everywhere else. Trim was replaced at corners, rakes and window perimeters, and the siding was cut and fit tight to the brick chimney and around basement hopper windows. A new gable vent and matching white fascia and rake boards finish the ends.
Details visible in the photos include board and batten front gable, black picture windows, covered entry with column. Materials on the elevation: white fiber cement lap siding, white board and batten siding, black-framed windows, asphalt shingle roof.
Products used: James Hardie, Andersen. The finish shown is Arctic White (closest manufacturer match). Progress photos went to the homeowner as the job moved along. Permits, inspections and dumpster logistics were handled by us.
